About the Club

Tibshelf Football Club is a FA Charter Standard Club affiliated to Derbyshire County FA and exists to offer an opportunity to anyone within the community of Tibshelf and surrounding areas irrespective of age, creed or ethnicity to play soccer within an organised club. The Club is administered by a Committee which is elected at its public Annual General Meeting.

In line with FA requirements we have a qualified Child Welfare Officer who ensures that the Club complies in all respects with all requirements of Child Protection measures to ensure a safe environment for the Children to enjoy their football. All coaches have gained at least FA Level 1 coaching qualifications.

The Club also seeks to provide non footballing activities for our members to enjoy. Each year we hold an Awards night when we gather together to appreciate the achievements of all the Club teams in the past season. Each team member receives a trophy before the keen audience; special team awards are made and honoured. For the Adults of the Club we hold an annual social usually around mid February hence its theme of Valentines.

Over the years traditionally around Christmas we have treated members on such diverse entertainments as Disney on Ice (1995), Watermeadows (1996), a guided tour of Old Trafford (1997), Tenpin Bowling and Quasar at Derby (1998), Since then bowling and roller skating have been popular activities of the younger teams. 1995 saw an adventurous trip to (old) Wembley to see a schoolboy International. In 2008 we went to Pride Park, Derby to watch an U21 international as we did at Nottingham Forrest earlier this year when England played France. For some of our youngest members these trips are their first experience of the excitement of the "proper" game. Occassionally we become quite ambitious, such as the firework display on the Recreation Ground held in 1998.

All this is done by the Club usually at no cost to the members; usually by the same dedicated few that run the teams. That is our commitment to the Community.

Tibshelf and Women

It is very evident that women and girls are grossly under-represented within the Club. On the playing side we are making determined efforts to create a Girls team to play.... if you're interested contact the Secretary.

On the non-playing side, the Committee really, really could do with fresh faces, fresh ideas and more importantly not so focussed on the football more on the development of the social side of the Club, particularly non-footballing events for the more junior teams Projects "bubbling" need creative inspiration.
